Afew hours ago, news broke of a military operation in five waves carried out by over 200 Israeli Air Force fighters that dropped more than 330 bombs on more than 100 targets in Iran. At least 8 Iranian cities were hit by the bombings: Tehran, the site of Natanz, Ilam, Avaz, Tabriz, Esfahan, Arak, Kermanshah. In addition to military bases and nuclear installations in the country, some of the leaders of the General Staff, the Pasdaran and some scientists from the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization were also hit. Operation “Rising Lion” has begun, which, according to some sources, also aims at a change of regime in Iran. The Israeli authorities have issued an emergency mobilization of reservists and Iran has so far responded by launching hundreds of drones.
The US administration, which had defined the Israeli attack as “not imminent”, had a few days ago evacuated the personnel of the US embassies in the Persian Gulf and, following the IDF operation, while defining itself as “not involved”, declared that “Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons”.
An unspecified “friendly power” had meanwhile been alerting the Tehran government for days about the extreme imminence of Israeli military operations.
A medium-sized imperialist conflict in the area is possible, with all its tragic consequences of death and destruction on an industrial scale.
In a context in which the Israeli bourgeoisie has succeeded – at a decidedly low cost for Israel but at the price of a bloody massacre of Palestinian proletarians in Gaza, with the substantial indifference of international chancelleries – in liquidating with ferocious efficiency the political threats of Hezbollah and Hamas, in ensuring the neutrality of Damascus following the recent fall of Assad and the occupation of parts of Syrian territory, a blow to the East was in the air to bring the fragile and historically hostile regional power of Iran to its knees.
In addition to strengthening Israel’s position in the area, Israeli operations over the last two years, culminating with the start of war operations against Tehran last night, firmly reiterate which imperialist powers they are and which want to remain hegemonic in the Middle East, sending a clear message to the “friendly powers” of Israel’s adversaries and, above all, the USA.
The relative weakening of American imperialist power is measured with apparent paradoxicality precisely through the intention of using its own positions of strength to try to slow down the weakening itself, in a context that sees inter-imperialist relations still clearly favourable to the world’s leading power, and possible challengers still far from being able to compete with it on a strictly military level on the world stage.
We will carefully follow the evolution of events in the Middle Eastern fault zone.
What we can and must say from now on, without hesitation, with firmness and determination, foreseeing a whole series of subtle “distinctions” on “attacked and aggressors”, of “necessary clarifications”, of “rankings” and of real “campist” deviations on the part of a self-styled “revolutionary left” that has given so much proof of itself in recent years, is that the nature of the conflict between Israel and Iran is unequivocally IMPERIALISTIC on both fronts , and that therefore our duty as INTERNATIONALIST COMMUNISTS is to denounce its reactionary nature here and now , to launch with our unfortunately very weak forces a message to all the proletarians of the area, who, in all probability, with the war mobilization will be even more yoked to the national wagon – that of the fanatical chauvinistic-clerical plan for a “Greater Israel” of the Tel Aviv bourgeoisie like that of the theocratic and anti-worker regime of the Ayatollahs of the capital:
THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THE WARS OF CAPITAL IS CLASS WAR, THE INTERNATIONALIST UNION OF THE MASHREQ, IRANIAN, ARAB AND ISRAELI PROLETARIAT!
